Kos' latest entry is an incredible display of photography mastery and building skill. Just take a peek, I'll stop talking.
The balloon halves are the special piece in this Iron Builder, specifically the dark blue color. But the true star of this photo is the fantastic motion blur of the background. For those of you who don't know, the Starfighter Telephone Game is just like the children's game Telephone, but each person creates a starfighter and sends that on the next person, and the person who received the fighter will make one inspired by the one they received and so on. It's a ton of fun and some pretty darn amazing fighters come out of it, like this one from Guy Smiley
The mix of dk. bley, lt. blue and lime green is interesting, but it works well here. The design is also unique as is the photography in fact. Check out how the photo was taken. The starfighter is nearly vertical, but the camera is turned to one side to give the effect of being taken side-on. I don't know if I'm just late to the party or never noticed it before, but that's a very good way of taking photos. Well done, Guy!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16331964349674535541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1268614981693544269.post-24195489813202659842015-01-04T19:21:00.001-08:002015-01-04T19:22:18.796-08:00Spaceship, spaceship, SPACESHIP!!!An over-used joke from a now cliché (but still good) movie, yes, but still relevant to my feelings about the genre. This D3 Immortal by Nate Daly is spectacular. Interesting and refreshingly new, his design is wonderful in its color and little touches like the discs on the sides.
It's a small starfighter, to be sure, but that is precisely the area Nate is currently excelling in. This is a perfect example of both of those. Sometimes the world isn't picture perfect. Actually, it rarely is. So this barren, desolate landscape patrolled by a walker really caught my eye - not because it was amazingly detailed but because of the atmosphere and lighting.
I've always loved WWII airplanes, so when I found out that Sydag was making a B-25, I was quite interested. The curves on these are not easy, but Sydag pulled this off very well. On top of that, he made it in tan, which doesn't have as large a part selection as other colors.
This month it's Evan B. and Gilcélio Chagas. I'll leave a few photos from each here for you to admire.
AlabamaLukasz Wiktorowicz is known, not for his detailed, modern vehicles, but rather for his castle builds. He says "I am pure castle builder but I wanted to try something new. So this is the result." And boy, is this result cool.

U.S.S. Alabama:
The bow is excellent, the angle is perfect. This entire thing is living (okay, maybe not living) proof that you don't have to stay in your theme/s to build well. If a castle builder can build a battleship well, there aren't any more excuses for anyone!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16331964349674535541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1268614981693544269.post-87792745749132648972014-03-05T13:24:00.001-08:002014-03-05T13:29:52.973-08:00Spaceships and Mechs and Giant Robots, Oh Yes!Catching up on recent MOCs, since we haven't posted in what, months? I'm sure some of you will have seen this, it's been circulating recently. I confess I have a mish-mash of favorite themes, and favorite movies as well. I loved Pacific Rim, so I was very happy to see this in my contacts' feed a couple days ago. Apparently, he also says he's going to make the other three also, so hearing that made my day.
As Simon Liu said, we often forget that spaceships don't have to be "streamlined and sleek". They can be just as cool, if not cooler, with boxy, tough-looking shapes such as Nick has demonstrated. The color scheme is sweet too.
I think. But either way, it's also the mother of modern tanks, since it was the earliest real tank. Anyway, without further ado, the Mark VIII International Tank:
The first of 2014, this WALL-E build is just awesome! Built by Legohaulic (Tyler Clites), the detail he achieved is amazing! This one's definetly plenty unique. I can't even find the cockpit, but that's okay, because it's an alien craft. And alien craft have strange mechanics that I wouldn't understand. A collaborative build by Blake Baer and Jack Bittner, this Lord of the Rings creation is just ASTOUNDING! The builders even give you a size scale, to show you how big this really is!
The amount of detail they managed to achieve in this build is magnificent, all the little details really add up to this moc. From the goats on top of the mountain, the magnificent statues, the bear clawing at the tree, and the little birds nest are awesome details! I am truly amazed at what some people can do, using the gift that God has given to them, it is truly inspiring. Well done both of you, and looking forward to the next collaborative build, whenever that comes about! But that's the quote that came to mind when I saw this.
Oh, and the squished soldier. But that's a little morbid, right? Right? *echo*

While I am disappointed to say I am too young to have seen Classic Space around, I absolutely love it. The blue/ (traditionally) lt. grey go so well together, and when a builder puts them together well it's a beautiful MOC that is the result.
A squadron of these over a city would be a terrifying sight. I'd certainly be indoors in a bunker.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16331964349674535541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1268614981693544269.post-31275509285161574252013-11-16T14:23:00.001-08:002013-11-16T14:23:34.313-08:00The Lonely HouseOlive green is a wonderful thing. The olive green trees here, for instance, help give the atmosphere a darker feel in my opinion, but still keep it looking alive. I love the juxtaposition of the hard-working man carrying the logs versus the man sitting against the fence drinking wine. Hilarious!
